Lawyers working on behalf of Julian Assange have revealed they will appeal to US President-elect Donald Trump to end a criminal investigation into the WikiLeaks founder.
Mr Assange was quizzed on Monday and Tuesday by Swedish prosecutors inside the Ecuadorian Embassy over sex allegations which he has denied.
The WikiLeaks founder is also subject to a criminal probe in the US over the publication of classified documents about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan provided by whistleblower Bradley Manning.
Mr Assange claimed political asylum inside the London embassy, where he has been holed up since 2012, amid fears he could be extradited to the US to face charges. full story
In an interview this past November 8, Assange was asked why his organization targeted Hillary Clinton ahead of Election Day. Assange responded in a letter.
“In recent months, WikiLeaks and I personally have come under enormous pressure to stop publishing what the Clinton campaign says about itself to itself,” Assange writes.
Stating that they received no information on any other presidential candidate that met their criteria, Assange explains that Wikileaks felt its publication of leaked Democratic National Committee emails and Clinton campaign chair John Podesta’s emails were of “public importance.” See Julian Assange’s full letter.
